What if I don't know the ring size I need?

Each of our pieces is hand-crafted, made from scratch in the size you request. In order to begin crafting your ring, we will need a ring size. There are several options to find it out if you're not sure and don't want to ruin a surprise:

  1. Keep in mind we offer one free resize within the first year of purchase. If it isn't a perfect fit, we can help! The average ring size for a woman is 6, and the average ring size for a man is 8. It is usually easier to size down than up. Resizing may require remaking the ring in certain styles, which can be costly outside of our policy.
  2. Ask close friends or family - they might know the person's ring size even if you don't. If someone has similar sized or shaped hands, you could also ask what their ring size is!
  3. Print out our Gemvara ring sizing guide. If time is of the essence, you can find your ring size by printing out our Gemvara ring sizing guide. You can use it to either measure your finger or an existing ring to determine the size you will need.
  4. If you're able to measure while they sleep, this could help maintain the surprise! Grab a small string of some kind and lightly wrap it around the base of their finger. When you pull it away, mark the length of the string with a piece of tape or marker. Contact us with that measurement, and our jewelry consultants can let you know the best size to order with that in mind.

  5. If surprises aren't your thing, you do not have a printer and you are not strapped for time, we are happy to send a physical ring sizing belt to you at no cost. To request a kit, visit our Contact Us page, and click "Email Us". Select “I need a ring sizer” from the dropdown menu, and enter your mailing information. A sizer will be mailed to you, and should arrive within about 7-10 business days.
